What will planet Earth be like in 20 years? At mid-century? In the year 2100? Prescient and convincing, this book is a must-read for anyone concerned about the future. Never has the world offered more promise for the future and been more fraught with dangers. In this powerful and sometimes terrifying work, Attali analyzes the past and pinpoints nine distinct periods of human history, each with its world center of power and prestige, and predicts what the tenth will bring by the end of this century.
Attali foresees the disappearance of individual countries and the dominance of a world government, with democracy prevailing. However, the ultimate, burning question is: Will we leave our children and grandchildren a world that is not only viable but better, or in this nuclear world bequeath to them a planet that will be a living hell? Either way, he warns, the time to act is now.

There’s nothing in this author’s bio that screams “crackpot,” but I am immediately skeptical of anyone who claims in their own subtitle that their book is brave and controversial.

re: wet_lembas: I had the same thought at first. My research also revealed no red flags or evidence of being a conservative snowflake. He seems quite brilliant and thoughtful, actually. According to g translate, the actual subtitle is “Preparing for what is to come.” So, I’d hazard a guess that the publisher of the English version insisted on that subtitle.

Lol. Countries are not disappearing anytime soon.

Sounds both brave & controversial. The book has to be better than the (unintentionally?) funny description.

Jacques Attali is an author worth knowing academically, thank you so much for this!

Sadly, he’s got many things wrong: Nigeria, Brazil Mexico and Egypt are still sitholes with no prospects of improvement.

Endorsed by Heinz Kissinger, no less. Sounds like a technocrat romp. Does he let rip with a population cull?

…that would be the “living hell” option behind Door No. 2.

Prognostication of the future is a mug’s game.
Always in motion the future is.

Yeah, but the wheel of time turns, & ages come & pass, by all accounts. There could be discernible patterns in the weave.

Been watching Wheel of Time on Amazon, Caesar?

“the disappearance of individual countries and the dominance of a world government, with democracy prevailing.”
Pretty much like the UN in “The Expanse” universe.
But the wild card in this is China. But maybe when they are mostly middle class there will be some moderation, if Xi and his successors restrain themselves from getting into shooting wars in the meantime.

No, trax, it was pure coincidence. But then who really knows? The wheel weaves as the wheel wills.

@wet_lembas — I’d wager that the publisher chose that title, not the author.

Listen, much of what Jacques Attali wrote in this book has already come to pass and much more will occur as he writes. Why? Known as the ‘Kissinger of France’ Attali is an establishment éminence grise technocrat with inside knowledge of his brethren’s future plans for the globe. We are living according to the long term business plan of psychopathic elites who dominate the planet and this book is an example where they are mocking us victims while mitigating bad karma and predictively programming us with what has come to be known as the ‘revelation of the method’, where they share their intentions in the confidence that they are so ahead with their control grid, that they can basically lay out their plans without worry of reprisal.
Go to Jay Dyer’s review of the book to see it in a light that perhaps your own programming hasn’t allowed you to consider.
In terms of the future, this book is as serious as it gets…if you allow it to materialize.
