Why it’s time to enshrine the right to vote in the Constitution
Throughout history, too many Americans have been disenfranchised or faced needless barriers to voting. Part of the blame falls on the Constitution, which does not contain an affirmative right to vote. The Supreme Court has made matters worse by failing to protect voting rights and limiting Congress’s ability to do so. The time has come for voters to take action and push for an amendment to the Constitution that would guarantee this right for all.
Drawing on troubling stories of state attempts to disenfranchise military voters, women, African Americans, students, former felons, Native Americans, and others, Richard Hasen argues that American democracy can and should do better in assuring that all eligible voters can cast a meaningful vote that will be fairly counted. He shows how a constitutional right to vote can deescalate voting wars between political parties that lead to endless rounds of litigation and undermine voter confidence in elections, and can safeguard democracy against dangerous attempts at election subversion like the one we witnessed in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
The path to a constitutional amendment is undoubtedly hard, especially in these polarized times. A Real Right to Vote explains what’s in it for conservatives who have resisted voting reform and reveals how the pursuit of an amendment can yield tangible dividends for democracy long before ratification.

This is a quite the deception. The vast majority of Americans today are not disenfranchised at the ballot box and the people behind this narrative have zero intention of helping those Americans who legitimately are.
Notice that in the description the actual legislation is left out. They don’t want you to focus on the laws they are trying to pass—they want you to focus on the idea that, “all these people are being disenfranchised and don’t you want to fix that?”
What happens is, the laws being billed as a solution for this (fake) problem are really a predicate for any and all votes to be counted. This is why elections since 2020 now last for weeks instead of a day.
We started hearing about this massive problem of voter disenfranchisement out of nowhere in 2019. Many laws and changes to our election laws happened right before that election—all under this guise or covid. (Notice none of those “covid laws” have been changed back when it was no longer an issue but for cases where they were challenged.
The left and corrupt republicans like in Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, etc. have used this predicate to justify not declaring a winner of an election for days, weeks—”we are just making sure that every vote is counted” In reality, what is happening is mail-in ballots are produced for weeks until enough votes are created to overcome whatever deficit existed on Election Day from the real actual votes.
It’s quite simple and completely unacceptable in the United States of America. What is harder to understand are these information warfare tactics that create the predicate for these disgusting tactics.
.
Creating the perception that many Americas are disenfranchised at the ballot box, allows them to create ways to cheat in our elections by appealing to the decency of the American people. Today, it is much harder to determine what is really happening and what is information warfare. Things are not often what they appear nor are things done for the reasons they are to be for.
It is people like Mojo who help propagate these narratives knowingly or unknowingly.
Americans need to unite to put a stop to things like this. You can’t have a democracy if your elections are rigged!
And just because you believe that this cheating has so far benefited you, does not mean it will continue to. It most likely that at some point it cheating will be used against your interests.
Please just ask yourself, when it became necessary or acceptable for elections to take days and weeks to count the votes. If you look at the people who have been historically disenfranchised at the ballot box, you will find that they continue to disenfranchised and under-represented. These changes to election laws have done absolutely nothing to improve these documented disparities, zero.
We need to put stop to letting our country be driven by elites and Neo-marxists against the interests of the American people.

The only truly valid reasons for removing anyone’s vote in a democracy is insanity or irretrievable criminality.
But that would finish the Republican party overnite.

By “voting reform” he means the right to rig an election

Mark Twain once said that:
“If voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it. “

Whenever anyone uses the words “constitution” and “democracy” I immediately ignore them. The U.S. is not a democracy, it’s is a constitutional republic. If one doesn’t know the difference, one is not qualified to write a book about it.

@MixedPickles: which is why state Republicans have enacted hundreds of voter suppression laws in the last three years.
