Be interesting to see how they plan to take over the country without majority popular support. You know, because of all the polls saying that the independents don’t agree with them, and are mostly “independents” because both parties are too extreme and seem to have gone a bit mad. Good luck taking over the country with support from about 1/3rd of the country.
I’m with Bill Maher on this. There’s liberal, and then there’s whatever giving biological men gold medals for beating women at women’s sporting events is. Liberals might well gain control of the country over time. What Republicans like to call “woke” and liberals call “progressive” isn’t going to. Because not even most liberals support or agree with that set of policies.

What the far left does not understand, socialism is going to lead to communism. The thing about communism, it is not for the people. Look at any communist country. And guess who communists hate the most? Gays, black and women’s rights, which will replace the CCPs’ Uyghurs For anyone who has been following we are heading at breakneck speed down that path. So sad that all the brainwashed lemmings are bringing in the one thing that is going to turn on them just like Mao did.

Cenk isn’t a progressive by any means. He freaks out and sides with the capitalist establishment every time there’s an opportunity for change. He only makes a living by pretending to want regular people to have a better life.

I don’t know of this writer, but use of the name, “The Young Turks,” is certainly problematic. It references a regime which perpetrated the Armenian genocide, the Assyrian genocide, & the Greek genocide.
Particularly given that the author apparently wrote several articles some years ago (since disavowed), which included denial of the Armenian genocide, in addition to disparaging comments about women.
However, as the great Mojo prudently admonishes, “Its Just A Book Calm Down.”

I’ve never thought of Cenk as ‘progressive’; he is a breath left of centre, and far right of AOC, Ilhan Omar or even Joe Biden.
But I’m reassured by the panic among our sillier regulars that pushback against voter suppression is the direct route to Communism.

And he’s apologised for things he’s done before, including being a Republican.
He is loudmouthed, and currently running a campaign to get a progressive to challenge Biden in the primary. Not much hope there unless Biden has a health crisis.

Yeah, what I read said he’d disavowed the genocide denial. But it was the combination of historical genocide denial with using “Young Turks” that looked very dodgy.

Unless you think he is secretly indicating approval of genocide, put it down to connotations not seen by everyone.

No, his genocide denial does seem to be in the past. Depressing to reflect that, in the country of his birth (Turkey), genocide denial is state policy, in spite of the fact that the Young Turks committed genocide (of the Armenians, Greeks & Assyrians). Those Turkish people who have acknowledged it have faced prosecution under the law.

@caesar963 - Another 200 or so Armenians were killed by Azerbaijan in the last couple days as part of an “anti-terrorism” thing in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region. Azerbaijan is backed (and armed) by Turkey. I don’t think it’s just historic genocide denial that’s official Turkey policy. Seems to me that they’d like to start up with the genocide all over again, just using a cat’s paw this go-around.

@erouting - Genocide denial has been the policy of every Turkish govt - & later adopted by Azerbaijan (as of 1991).
Sickeningly, the Turkish state further promotes this transparent policy of genocide denial by pretending that it was the Armenians who committed genocide against them. An historic form of the “accusation in a mirror” technique, so beloved of the Putin regime & other despotisms.
The Turks even have a massive monument to this lie - the tallest monument in Turkey - the “Iğdır Genocide Memorial.”
Make the lie as big as possible, I suppose.
French journalists Laure Marchand & Guillaume Perrier call this false narrative monument “the ultimate caricature of the Turkish govt’s policy of denying the 1915 genocide by rewriting history & transforming victims into guilty parties.”

A story we have seen before. A Muslim born in Turkey, relocates to the United States.
