Whatever your feelings about Donald Trump as President, no American politician has ever received as total an endorsement from all mainstream Churches:- Evangelical, Episcopal or Roman Catholic - as he did.
Because no mainstream American politician has ever embodied Christian values as thoroughly as he did.

@pryderi I can’t tell if you’re trying to uphold Christian values or use the best example possible to excoriate them. If The Indicted Former Guy is the epitome of embodied Christian values, is it not time to finally call it quits on a two-thousand-year-old experiment based in Greek mythology and pagan celebration with the sole purpose of subjugating an illiterate population?

Self-serving piffle, prydeful (characteristic). Trump has been consistently condemned by many throughout the Christian community.
Pope Francis, prior to Trump’s 2016 election, denounced Trump as being “not Christian” - particularly condemning Trump’s anti-immigrant policies (like your own Brexit) & his plans to deport people. He said that “building walls” is anti-Christian. The intervention was unprecedented.
Whereas Trump’s unthinking instinct (like your own) has been to ridicule the Pope, mocking Francis’ insistence on paying his own hotel bill, “I don’t like seeing the Pope standing at the checkout counter (front desk) of a hotel in order to pay his bill. It’s not Pope-like!”
Pope Francis demonstrated support for migrants, recalling those who have died trying to reach the US. He walked along the US-Mexico border fence & said at a mass in Juarez that immigration is spurred by a “humanitarian crisis.”
However, at least you leave the Jews alone, so, small mercies.

Strickland also signed Archbishop Vigano’s open letter urging Roman Catholics to avoid the Covid19 vaccine.
Anyone that needs to see the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ consistent and uncritical support of Donald Trump’s policies, Google is your friend.

In the interests of ecumenical balance, the Episcopal church (incl bishop Mariann Budde) also condemned Trump, particularly his staged photo op visit to St. John’s Episcopal Church & his expedient gesture of holding aloft a Bible, at which Episcopalians expressed “outrage.”
pryderi - That’s truly rich coming from someone who has to be constantly corrected, due to telling innumerable lies, such as those here & on the Lefkowitz book. Most egregiously, everything you said there was false. And at some level, you must be aware of this.

While Francis is the head of the Church, there also exists a diversity of religious opinions across the global church, as with any organisation. (Surely not!).
Additionally, the Catholic archbishop of Washington described Trump’s visit to John Paul II shrine in Washington, D.C. during widespread protests on June 2nd, 2020, as ‘baffling & reprehensible.’
Archbishop Wilton Gregory said that Trump’s photo op opportunism “violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people, even those with whom we might disagree,” Gregory said in a statement as Trump & first lady Melania arrived at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Northeast Washington.
In his statement, Gregory noted the legacy of Pope John Paul II, suggesting he would not have condoned Trump’s actions, including his walk to St. John’s as hundreds of demonstrators nearby were protesting the death of George Floyd the week before.
“Saint Pope John Paul II was an ardent defender of the rights & dignity of human beings. His legacy bears vivid witness to that truth,” Gregory said. “He certainly would not condone the use of tear gas & other deterrents to silence, scatter or intimidate them for a photo opportunity in front of a place of worship & peace.”
Archbishop Gregory said Floyd’s death, “like all acts of racism, hurts all of us in the Body of Christ since we are each made in the image & likeness of God, & deserve the dignity that comes with that existence.”
About half a mile away, several dozen protesters held signs that read, “Black lives matter,” “Trump mocks Christ” and “God is not a prop.” Just before noon, the group knelt down for eight minutes of silence & prayer — one for each minute a police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck before he died.
Protestors denounced Trump’s “disingenuous show of faith;” one of them, Michelle Dixon, a congregant at All Souls Church, said God is “sacred, & really the embodiment of unconditional love.”
Also asking, “How can you stand there & hold up a Bible and say you believe in this unconditional love that is God when you are sowing fear & hatred and shooting peaceful protesters just down the street?” she said. “It’s unforgivable.”
“The Bible is a book we should hold only with fear & trembling, given to us that in it we might find eternal life,” J.D. Greear, president of the Southern Baptist Convention said in a statement to the Washington Post. “Our only agenda should be to advance God’s kingdom, proclaim his gospel, or find rest for our souls.”
Russell Moore, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Religious Liberty & Ethics Convention, said in a statement that he was “brokenhearted & alarmed.”

Given his age and obesity, Trump is likely to meet his maker in the relatively near future. Given also that many people say “God loves a sinner”, he must be in with a good chance of making it into Heaven.
I have tried - and so far failed - to imagine how that might turn out. Any of the theologically minded out there have any ideas? Do new arrivals at the pearly gates get a complete personality (or hair) transplant?
Or will the same Donnie be wandering around greeting old friends like John McCain?
