As Will Durant observed, democracy has done less harm & more good than any other form of govt.
As long as we can avoid the toxic extremes of ideology.

Caesar– be careful with Durant. a profound philosopher, he was brought up by staunch Roman Catholic parents who hoped that their son would be a priest. Fortunately, Durant was subjected to a rigorous education at the hands ofthe Jesuits who, as in the case ofVoltaire, developed his intellect at the expense ofhis faith. He rebelled and adopted radical socialist ideas. That said, he was a giant among men.

Be careful of socialists? Be careful of Catholics? Be careful of giants? I can attest to the great value of a Jesuit education. As to Durant’s works (with his wife, Ariel), they are perfectly balanced & reasonable.

Because voting for the lesser of two evils does less harm than good? What utter and complete nonsense. Have any of you ever heard the phrase “The victor writes the history books”? I guess if you only chose between different flavors of being punched and stabbed over centuries , any other choice beyond that bowl of Stockholm-syndrome jelly called your brain would seem alien. That is the trouble with academia, its a whole lineage of mostly conformist thinkers regurgitating written text making the GIANT assumption that it is all true. And of course ignoring successful tribalism/anarchist systems of organization that have worked and still work for tens of thousands of years, disgraceful. But i guess we should listen to firebombing super war criminals like Churchill as gospel.

Democracy, the worst political system ever devised. “Government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich”. It has nothing to offer for the proletariat. You can vote for different parties but they are all pro-growth, pro-immigration, pro-free market, and anti-proletariat.
