Fantastic share! Sam Harris always provides a clear eyed view on whatever he talks about, even if the truth is hard for us to hear. This topic in particular is one we need to engage putting our emotions aside and realize it isn’t all about us or our prejudices, be it holding fast to the idea that Islam is a religion or peace or one that encourages holocaust.

I assume you meant to say “Hey, the west well be fine with Islam as soon as we have drained the oil from the Middle East and stop completely destabilising the region and funding lunatics like we funded Osama Bin Laden, Gaddafi, and Saddam Hussein”? We also have Russia propping up Syria and the USA propping up Saudi Arabia, which is funding extreme Islam that funds ISIS. Not to mention the CIA’s work in Iran.
Islam has plenty of flaws, but if the West and the Soviets hadn’t destroyed the region, perhaps the fundamentalists wouldn’t be dominating? People used to take holidays to the Middle East decades ago, Iraq, Syria, and Iran were all tourist destinations. What happened hey?

Western Medicine alone saves 1000 times whatever was caused by war or western economics. That’s just *one* thing we did right - but only negatives get counted for the these guilt-ridden people posting here. Most other cultures could eventually benefit from western dominated economics like india, china and most asian countries. The question you should be asking is “why haven’t the muslim countries?”, why don’t they live in econimically stable democracies - “What happened hey?” well, Islamists came along, that’s what you get, when you take literally a book written by some goat herders hundred years ago.
