Being an English peer and paid shill for the tobacco industry it must be easy to look down at the demands of the poors and the browns. Would like to see him try to debate Žižek.

Do all of the “poors and the browns (crikey!)” support the truly bizarre ideas of the figures whom the author writes about? Quite evidently not. The radical left (given expression by these writers) does not address the needs of the poor. They’ve gone down the rabbithole of irrationality. The poor do not need increasingly bizarre identity politics, they require solutions of the kind proposed by the “old left” - the Attlee government in Britain would be an example. Unity rather than destructive division.
Is it at all possible to debate or otherwise engage with Žižek? One’s interlocutor must be functionally coherent, and he has never passed that bar.

@Hatted - That’s quite Americentric of you. The description of the book lists 10 writers, and I think only Dworkin was American. The cover image additionally features, inter alia, Michel Foucault & Edward Said - neither of whom were American. So, the author (British) is mainly discussing the European sphere of soi-disant thought.
