Communism in China and the former Soviet Union was always about control of the masses.Communism as defined by Marx has never been implemented by any nation.Proof with Russia was when the wall came down.
Economic class structure was exposed.The living standards of Supreme Soviet and Politburo officials was no different than western politicians, in some cases, even better.
China is no different, except the origins of their entry into the communist model, which was implemented as a defensive measure to prevent further balkanization and colonization of the mainland. Macau, Hong Kong,Taiwan
already fell to the West. Mao wasn’t a communist, more of a nationalist, trying to prevent his homeland from being carved up.
By initially aligning with the Soviets a Nuclear power, that guaranteed military assistance which they never would have received from the west,who Mao realized was his true enemy.
Mao’s China after receiving Soviet research and development technology, and military intel. did the Michael Jordan “fade away ” shot and moved away from Soviet Russia.Mao played them like a Stradivarius.
China’s billionaires 539 are only second the U.S.
The former Soviet Union Aka The “Motherland of Communism” is fourth.
Capitalism, Communism, and every other “ism ” used to govern nations are all one “ism”
