China’s economy has been booming for decades now. A formidable and emerging power on the world stage, the China that most Americans picture is only a rough sketch, based on American news coverage, policy, and ways of understanding.
Enter Keyu Jin: a world-renowned economist who was born in China, educated in the U.S., and is now a tenured professor at the London School of Economics. A person fluent in both Eastern and Western cultures, and a voice of the new generation of Chinese who represent a radical break from the past, Jin is uniquely poised to explain how China became the most successful economic story of our time, as it has shifted from primarily state-owned enterprise to an economy that is thriving in entrepreneurship, and participation in the global economy.
China’s economic realm is colorful and lively, filled with paradoxes and conundrums, and Jin believes that by understanding the Chinese model, the people, the culture and history in its true perspective, one can reconcile what may appear to be contradictions to the Western eye.
What follows is an illuminating account of a burgeoning world power, its past, and its potential future.

The author comes off as a bit of an apologist for the Party’s decisions.
She elides past anything that is problematic about how the PRC does things.

Mrpride do have any shame? Unless you are from China which we all know you are not, does it feel good to be such a tool?
Does it feel good to shill for the enemy of America and Western Europe?
You are a real POS and hope you get the overlords you are working so hard for

Thank you!

@ssafe05 oh yeah definitely.
This is how she describes the great leap forward
“A series of misplaced policies to accelerate
agricultural output actually led to a 15 percent decline in grain output in 1959, and another 16 percent in the following two
years, during which time the entire nation suffered from a severe famine.[11]”
I mean that’s on way of putting it?
I haven’t actually read it yet so I can’t really comment on it. I thought it was uploading because she’s a professor at LSE

@Columbia21 for uploading a book? You really should try reading books you don’t agree with

Like Homer, even LSE professors may nod. (Not That Homer, of course.)
Thanks for uploading a range of works, mr p, & allowing people to critically analyse them for themselves.

mrpride is right. We should always try to understand other viewpoints that oppose our own. Usually on the internet we mostly see the worst and least thought out opinions. Reading (or listening) to books from educated people give far better insights into what the opposing views are.
Maybe you’ll still disagree with them in the end, but at least you’ll have a better idea of how the opposition things. How is that ever a bad thing?

@pansophicshoe
