Millennials have it bad, they faced the problems of underemployment, unaffordable housing and economists who wrote crap columns telling them that it was their fault for taking an Uber to brunch.
Today, the future’s so dark, we need night vision goggles, not a few liberal guys shining a torch on a sandwich. Maybe today we could use the light of Karl Marx. Marx may not have had much to say about brunch in the 21st century, but he sure had some powerful thoughts about where the system of capitalism would land us. Over time, it would produce a series of crises, he said, before pushing the wealth so decisively up, a top-heavy system would come crashing down with a push.
Pushy old communist Helen Razer offers an introduction to the thought of Marx for millennials and anyone else tired of wage stagnation, growing global poverty and economists writing desperate columns saying everything would work better if only we stopped eating sandwiches. Brunchers of the world must unite! They have nothing to lose but a life lived for the wealth of a few. Both for themselves and their comrades around the world, they have a world to win.

In today’s cultural narrative, you’re nobody unless you are a victim. It doesn’t matter if someone was born in poverty, raised in the ghetto, worked hard and become successful. They’re still a nobody. Marxism attracts people for feeding people’s sense of entitlement. It is especially attractive in today’s growing narcissistic society, in which people think the world should bow down and worship them.

“In today’s cultural narrative, you’re nobody unless you are a victim. It doesn’t matter if someone was born in poverty, raised in the ghetto, worked hard and become successful. They’re still a nobody.”
That’s not true. They’re lucky. Most people I know who’ve grown up in poverty fight for their life to get out of it, work very hard, sometimes at multiple jobs for years, and end up right where they started. Just because some people don’t focus on the few exceptions to the rule, doesn’t mean they think those people are nobodies, it just means they aren’t interested in using those examples to reinforce a status quo that hurts the average person.
As for the rest of what you wrote, anyone who focuses on the “entitlement” of people at the bottom who can barely meet their basic needs vs. the entitlement of billionaires who have amassed so much wealth they couldn’t spend it if they tried, well, I don’t know what else to say except it’s not about playing victim, it’s about basic decency.

Total Garbage. The history of Marxism is dictatorship and totalitarianism. Not to say capitalism is perfect, but Marxism offers no better and only worse solutions. It is a 19th century relic that offers no solutions for modern problems.

Interestingly, the cover says it all; looks like a Tide box detergent! With the miniaturization of culture, Marx’s WORKERS are now @meetoos, @greens, @minorities, @ltbgqs, @@@@@@@@@ and so on. Would love to hear Marx’s views on how they are going to UNITE!

Thanks. I heard this was a fun read.

There is no billionaire keeping you from succeeding. Not one. I grew up in poverty and it stopped when I kept doing the same stupid things that kept my family in poverty. Marxism is garbage.

I think Ferris Bueller said it best “…isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.”

…I quite like optimism and altruism. Although it’s easy to be a pedantic nitpicker.

60 plus years of marxist democrat policies have destroyed the black community. So I see why you white liberals love it so much.

Millennials don’t believe in free will.
They just think someone else will.

Destructive lies offering cyanide to babes as if it were candy. Marx was a Satanist who worked to destroy ALL society! See Paul Kengor’s book, “The Devil and Karl Marx: Communism’s Long March of Death, Deception, and Infiltration.”
