This shocking exposé of a true-life Orwellian plot of nightmarish proportions reveals the chilling events of November 1984 following Indira Gandhi’s assassination, and the cover-up by the Indian Government. For over three days, armed mobs systematically butchered, torched and raped members of the Sikh community in Delhi and other places, unchecked. The sheer scale of the killings exceeded the combined civilian death tolls of other conflicts such as Tiananmen Square and 9/11. In Delhi alone 3,000 people were killed. Thirty-three years on, the full extent of what took place has yet to be fully acknowledged. Based on victim testimonies and official accounts, this book exposes how the largest mass crime against humanity in India’s modern history was perpetrated by politicians and covered up with the help of the police, judiciary and media. A book that posits fundamental questions, it will shake you to the core.

*The Myth of Tiananmen*
*And the price of a passive press*
“Over the last decade, many American reporters and editors have accepted a mythical version of that warm, bloody night. They repeated it often before and during Clinton’s trip. On the day the president arrived in Beijing, a Baltimore Sun headline (June 27, page 1A) referred to “Tiananmen, where Chinese students died.” A USA Today article (June 26, page 7A) called Tiananmen the place “where pro-democracy demonstrators were gunned down.” The Wall Street Journal (June 26, page A10) described “the Tiananmen Square massacre” where armed troops ordered to clear demonstrators from the square killed “hundreds or more.” The New York Post (June 25, page 22) said the square was “the site of the student slaughter.”
The problem is this: as far as can be determined from the available evidence, no one died that night in Tiananmen Square.
A few people may have been killed by random shooting on streets near the square, but all verified eyewitness accounts say that the students who remained in the square when troops arrived were allowed to leave peacefully.”

Don’t troll on such serious material.
Even the official govt figures following the event estimated the amount who were killed at around 300. At the State Council press conference on 6 Jun 1989, spokesman Yuan Mu said that “preliminary tallies” by the govt showed that about 300 people had been killed, incl 23 students from universities in Beijing, along with some people he described as “ruffians” - On 30 Jun, Mayor Chen Xitong said that the number of “injured” was around 6,000. (Oksenberg, Michel; Sullivan, Lawrence R.; Lambert, Marc, eds. (1990). Beijing Spring, 1989: Confrontation and Conflict: The Basic Documents. Qiao Li. M.E. Sharpe).
Of course, given that these were only the figures admitted to by the repressive regime itself, the true amount was reasonably far greater. Such controlling regimes also suppress sources of information, to ensure the strangulation of truth.
On the morning of 4 Jun, many estimates of deaths were reported, incl from govt-affiliated sources. Peking University campus sources suggested a death toll of betw two & three thousand. The Chinese Red Cross had initially given a figure of 2,600 deaths. The Swiss Ambassador had estimated 2,700.
In the aftermath of the protests, the regime made widespread arrests of protesters & suppressed other protests around China. The govt also invested heavily in creating more effective police riot control units. The brutal reaction to the protests set limits on political expression in China that have lasted up to the present. The events remain one of the most widely censored topics in China.

Very detailed book about the horrific State organised pogrom against the Sikhs. It is astonishing and perhaps telling that if Italy attacked the Vatican (seeking advice first from a SAS Major the UK sent to them in an effort to see the Italians a defunct warship) this would be in the memory of everyone in the West. Instead because Governments want trade deals with India they keep quiet about it. Result more State pogroms against other minorities in India (Muslims in Gujrat, Christians in Orissa et al). Police that let the violence happen and sometimes join in, politicians inciting the violence and a Judiciary that gives them decades of immunity. Between 1984 and 1998 India practiced extra judicial killings against the Sikhs in Punjab with police rounding up any male Sikh youth they wanted, torturing him to death in police cells before disposing of the bodies without notification to families. The facts are there.

caesar963, unless I give you permission, don’t address me again. I hate pretentious, ivory tower wannabe show offs like you. Slumming & looking for admirers among the lowly pirates.
Are you one of those famous catholic priests?

When you continue to make a fool of yourself - especially by denying human rights abuses & power-worshipping genocidal regimes - you will get a slap. That’s non-negotiable.
Your desperate, attention-seeking edginess is unbecoming for a character in his sixties.
Not remotely “cool,” Edgelord.
(Also characteristic that you didn’t have the guts to admit your most recent phck up, & could only rant.)

@apnea: First, are you a virgin? Because the hilarious tough-guy threats and self-importance you’re displaying seem to indicate so.
Next, have you been to China? Because I lived there for several years - in Beijing - and I’ve personally talked to people who were at the Tiananmen massacre, witnessed it, and/or knew people who were involved.
BUT OF COURSE, my personal experience cannot possibly compare with what a white man has heard! White men hearing things will ALWAYS take precedence over real-life eyewitnesses. Why? Because they’re tough and smart and are experts in everything! LOL
Again, I’ve been there and did it, while you sat at home and read about it. Tough fingers writing tough words, ooooh, you’re soooo scary and hard… LOL Again, like a typical tough guy white man, you have no idea what you’re talking about and all this is just a silly distraction to cover up your embarrassment at being a virgin, LOL

Apnea. Someone counters your point with the Chinese government’s information and you get angry. You don’t offer any facts to refute the statement. You just insult and attack. Pretty lame. Maybe you should check your facts and be ready to discuss a subject before you make a statement.
To make matters even worse you don’t even talk about the book posted you just rant about something that has nothing to do with the book posted. At the very least if you going to troll try to stay on the subject.
Like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target. Do better or don’t attempt to sound intelligent. It is making you look more like a fool than normal.
Ty for the upload.

Kotoko ty for the info. I know little or nothing about what happened as I was in training at that time and only learned about it after the fact.

As I said before I know nothing on the subject of Tiananmen Square and what happened. Yet there does seem a lot of people are questioning the facts of what happened. That is a fine and informed discussion on the subject is always needed. Yet it needs to be talked about in the right forms. Just posting the information on any book put up here is not the right way to talk about this.
Also, personal attacks just get personal attacks sent back at you. Any point you want to make is lost.

Here is a book about the subjugation of, and human rights abuses against, Sikhs in India. Yet the comments seem to have latched on to some fetish about China.
This book truly does describe an oppression that people aren’t ready to acknowledge.
