In Bad News: How Woke Media Is Undermining Democracy, Batya Ungar-Sargon reveals how American journalism underwent a status revolution over the twentieth century―from a blue-collar trade to an elite profession. As a result, journalists shifted their focus away from the working class and toward the concerns of their affluent, highly educated peers. With the rise of the Internet and the implosion of local news, America’s elite news media became nationalized and its journalists affluent and ideological. And where once business concerns provided a countervailing force to push back against journalists’ worst tendencies, the pressures of the digital media landscape now align corporate incentives with newsroom crusades.
The truth is, the moral panic around race, encouraged by today’s elite newsrooms, does little more than consolidate the power of liberal elites and protect their economic interests. And in abandoning the working class by creating a culture war around identity, our national media is undermining American democracy. Bad News explains how this happened, why it happened, and the dangers posed by this development if it continues unchecked.

As between that one time the left, in the form of Hilary Clinton’s bad adversarial research, falsely accused Trump of being a Russian plant, and that one time the right, in the form of Tucker Carlson and Fox news, doxed and then got murdered an abortion doctor, I’ll take the woke left. Even when they’re wrong and deceptive they’re more amusing about it. As opposed to, you know actually calling for viewers to murder people. You know who calls for murder of those they disagree with? Terrorist organizations and the GOP. Not really sure I need to make the distinction between the two anymore, unfortunately.
So, yes, the GOP can have its propaganda, but all of us with an education that extends beyond their echo chamber can poke holes in the rice paper that underlays it. Ain’t free speech grand?

Gee, I’m glad I read the synopsis. I hadn’t realized I’d lost faith in American media until this author said so. And it’s no wonder. All the fake news the woke socialists publish. Can you imagine a world where everyone accepts everyone else for what they are and only hate them for who they are? So absurd! If only the legislatively-oppressed minorities would realize they could have it much worse if they lived in North Korea, America would be a quiet peaceful place…with only the occasional police shooting or hate crime perpetrated by lone wolves with mental problems that in no way reflect the policies or ideology of the places they work or the people they listen to. The author is right to blame the media for not bringing all the good things that bigoted right-wingers do to make the world a better place every day. We have to pass laws in order to make sure the correct history is being taught; otherwise, the woke media might spread their fake news like slavery being bad or the Holocaust actually happening. Thank you to this author for making sure we know why journalists only care about themselves and their elitist positions.

If you honestly think the STATE Media is covering things fairly then you deserve where this is all leading. The United States is well on the way to becoming China’s B - Dem lock step is being hastened by the Media and current government. Left is Tolerant as long as you hold the exact views.
