Dunno about the Anglophiles, but the English largely view him with disdain and quiet derision. This book was written in 2010, before he started to go off the rails in 2016 (Brexit) and then gave notice in 2020 of being completely doolally in a podcast interview.
He subsequently lost various fellowships and an award, and has faded into obscurity. Not a bad historian on his specialist subject (the Tudors), but can safely be ignored on just about anything else.
