“Technological advance will reduce the value (”cost” or “price” would be more appropriate there) of commodities - food, health care, and housing - toward zero.” - Or would these inherently valuable commodities be at a premium? Particularly in a world of nine billion people? The use of the imperative there is entirely misplaced. Also, the profuse surplus of assumption-abundance.
In fairness, the old message does need to adapt in such a manner in order to appeal to people who cannot live without their consumer stuff & gadgets (gimmicks & doodads). But then, the necessary nexus of innovation/entrepreneurialism/competition is of course required in order to produce these items. A perennial puzzler. Stagnation remains one of the great challenges to the old utopian panacea. And, needless to say, the French don’t even have a word for entrepreneurialism. Is there oeuf all over their faces, or what?

The entire concept of communism is based on lies and this is just more of the same. It’s a bait and switch and it’s garbage. It has never served the people it promises to and it never will. Period.

Communism is an idea with good intentions. Same as capitalism. The only difference between the two is that one was given a chance, the other… well, not so much.

Over a third of humanity lived under communism during the 20th c. It had experienced exponential rates of expansion. So, one could say that people had a bellyful of it - if not for the unprecedented rates of starvation.
I’m not sure about the good intentions angle either. It’s quite sustainable to posit that such ideology is about power. Brute power, according to the factual, historical record, and the writings of both theorists & practitioners.

In the 21st century, new technologies should liberate us from work??? Hmm, Bastani seems to have a utopian model that surpasses even Marx. Never mind that he needs plenty of expendable laborers to fuel his red furnace.
