Conservative radio host and syndicated columnist Dennis Prager provides a bold, sweeping look at the future of civilization with Still the Best Hope, and offers a strong, cogent argument for why basic American values must triumph in a dangerously uncertain world. Humanity stands at a crossroads, and the only alternatives to the “American Trinity” of liberty, natural rights, and the melting-pot ideal of national unity are Islamic totalitarianism, European democratic socialism, capitalist dictatorship, or global chaos if we should fail. America is Still the Best Hope, as this eminently sensible, profoundly inspiring volume so powerfully proves.

Great book. The big question is the US Govt. upholding “American values” anymore?

America was at its best in the 1960’s-70’s. My father had no education, was a deliveryman and bought a 4 bedroom house on Long Island, NY in a really nice middle class suburb, had a great life, my mom stayed home and raised 5 kids and lived the American dream… Try that anywhere else, or in the decrepit state the liberals have brought us into now. We need to return to those times, but I doubt it is possible now, only war, famine and suffering thanks to all the liberal braindeads.

Hogweed, I’m not a political person but I am into both government studies and history. I’m not sure if you realize this but the time you you citing as the best is one of the most liberal and progressive time in United States history:
- Democrats held the House and Senate for all of those years, so they were responsible for the majority of fiscal policy;
- Democrats held the Executives for most of those years as well;
- The Supreme Court was one of the most liberal in its history;
- High government spending to support home ownership, infrastructure growth, and general societal wellbeing was the norm;
- High corporate taxes along with extremely progressive personal income tax rates were foundational to supporting those liberal fiscal policies.
Again, I am not interested political debates or arguing for one side or the other. However, your argument that period of the 1960’s and 1970’s was “America at it’s best” is a very persuasive for Democrats and their policies during that time.

@bgijohn Thank you for that great reply. I agree with you, and I was a moderate Liberal most of my life. I slowly drifted away over the last 10 years, but when I saw what happened in the last election, I moved over to the right a bit more. I don’t much care for politics myself, but I have seen a huge shift in the what the left has become, from an open minded, tolerant and willing to compromise, willing to debate group, to the most unprogressive, intolerant, almost fascist minded, and violent MOB. As I’ve heard said before “I didn’t leave the left, it left me”.
