Do people understand that we do not live in a Democracy? The United States is a Constitutional Republic, which (like the Roman Republic) has a 4 year term for its leader. This republic also guarantees rights and freedoms of everyone, as stated in the constitution that made this country. A democracy guarantees nothing, and will usually evolve into socialism, and from there communism. That is why the democrats are always screaming “save our democracy”, because they want to make everyone think that is what our country is. The fact is, democracy is supposed to be the people controlling the govt, which will never happen with democrats. The democrats want total govt control, the opposite of democracy, while I remember hearing Trump say we need smaller govt, which is where democracy has a chance to blossom.
People are so mixed up…..

@Bytbiter — indeed, I wish American teachers would point out to their students that words have more than one definition, “democracy” and “republic” being two such examples. Would save a lot of confusion. That said, it’s something people should really be able to figure out without being told. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Hogweed - a constitutional republic is a democracy. There is more than one form of democracy and that is a form of representative democracy. This is politics 101. We learn this in the first grade. We vote or at least some of us do. You know, the key of democracy?
