Every example, except a scant few, of the colonials giving back a country has resulted in civil war, massive corruption, death, murder and mayhem… This is while under the new management, or mismanagement however you view it… This book is a pity party, poor me, look at the mess we’ve made, can’t be our fault…The ransacking of Black and brown bodies and their land is being done by other Black and brown bodies, the colonials gave it back and look how you’ve f**ked it up… No easy answers because you wouldn’t like what you heard…

For those of you condemning the condemnation of imperialism, did it even occur to you that imperialism creates the environment in which corruption thrives. Yours is a view predicated on paternalism, also know as racism. Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia had thriving civilizations while the Old World was tearing itself apart with dynastic wars, disease in its cities, and sewage in its streets. Read a book like “King Leopold’s Ghost” if you want to understand the corruptive effect imperialism had. The West pillaged the World of its wealth and left nothing but detritus behind. Moreover, the Old World and the New are fraught with corruption, except its embedded in law. Money flows upward to the few just as it does elsewhere. Western democracies merely legalized the flow in that direction.
