  A book that might have been relevant sixty years ago, but today is just another attempt to blame current generations for the misunderstanding and misinterpretations of their forefathers and attempt to reopen old wounds.

  Aren’t there other dimensions to Christianity? Love, charity, altruism, equality, fairness, humility, decency, etc. etc.? Surely it can’t be all about white supremacy? At least I don’t recall anything about white supremacy in the New Testament.

  Christians and Christian Churches also opposed political racism (Catholics, Quakers, etc.), and the Civil Rights movement was driven by Christian principles and doctrines. Forgiveness was central to the effort (that we should stop singling people out on the basis of their colour - y’know, identity politics).
  In addition, misusing and distorting Christianity actually breaches and contravenes the fourth Commandment. So, in a very real sense, such actors would separate themselves from Christianity.

  Anyone who perverts scripture to their own purposes is by nature wrong. However mischaracterizing it by making it sound like ALL of Christianity is evil is in it’s self evil.

  Like (seemingly) all the above commenters I haven’t read the book, but you get that this is written by a Christian theologian. She teaches at the department of theology at Fordham University. So probably what she is saying is that White supremacy is counter to the Gospel message and needs to rooted out of Christianity, not that all Christians are evil. Also, this is a peer reviewed book, and therefore is required to make arguments based on evidence, not just assert things. Whether a reader finds these arguments compelling is another matter. Not that trolls read academic books.
