I used to be a lot more scared of China until I started watching China Uncensored on youtube. If the CCP, the biggest assortment of con men and boot lickers you’d ever hope to meet, manages to outsmart the US well, then we probably deserve to lose. It’d be like losing at the video game street fighter to a lethargic puppy.
Obviously we need to counter China’s influence, obviously we need to take them seriously as a threat, but wow, the communist party is just not very clever. And they think they are the most clever. Ever hear of Wolf Warrior diplomacy? That’s where they act like a spoiled rich kid with hurt feelings and no manners. And they brag about how impressed they are to have come up with this idea. That is the level of thought we are dealing with here. Corruption is rampant, everyone is scared of doing anything original because the party may kill them for it and the new generations are so done with things that they’ve started laying flat and many refuse to have children because conditions are too poor to bring them into the world.
So take China seriously, but never be afraid of these clowns.

The birth rate has declined sharply, and the pop is about to fall off a cliff, in numerical terms.
However, the greatest victims of all l/r ideological regimes remain the people themselves, upon whom incessant war is waged (don’t mention the ongoing genocide). There is indeed dire poverty, for over 100 million people there, with illnesses assoc with chronic poverty. The regime also constitutes a very real danger to its immediate neighbours, as is also the case with Russia.
